Elephants — the gentle giants of our land.
These powerful beings are not only a sight to behold. They’re the very symbol of strength in Africa. They are tough yet remain one of the most tender animals to roam the wilderness. They are a force to be reckoned with, yet calm and nurturing.
We have much to learn from elephants, but there are many conservation issues around their survival in the wild. And that’s why Elephant Whispers exists.
In 2005, five rescued elephants needed a home. André and Colleen Kotze had a dream of creating a haven for these mesmerising beings but didn’t know where to start. It was when Jack Brotherton assisted with his expertise and support that Elephant Whispers came to life.
The bushveld expanse of Sandford in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, became the sanctuary for the rescued elephants in 2007. A year later, the team was able to share their passion, wisdom, and experience with elephants with guests.
Today, Elephant Whispers aims to enhance elephant conservation and protection by offering them a forever home and teaching the community about the issues surrounding the elephant’s survival in the wild.
Nestled in the heartbeat of the bush, these elephants now wander the hundreds of hectares they call home. Dedicated elephant handlers and staff members tend to the animals and safeguard their health and wellbeing.
To ensure the continuation of this refuge, guests are invited to embark on interactive experiences with the elephants in a completely non-intrusive way. Visitors can learn about the giants of the land while connecting with one for the first time. It’s a truly remarkable experience to look in the eye of an elephant and realise that you are two completely different beings who both share this space.
During the pandemic, Elephant Whispers was struggling. The tourism shutdown and nationwide lockdown left very little income flow. Knowing the incredible work they do for conservation, Travel Brand curated this marketing video free of charge as a sign of support and our way of giving back.
This short film is purposed to encapsulate the interactions with the elephants, the place they can now safely call home, and the wonderful work the organisation is doing to make sure it stays that way.
We thoroughly enjoyed putting together this clip and hope it assists in uplifting support for the company and elephant conservation as a whole.
Travel Brand holds great enthusiasm for conservation and wildlife protection. We’re open to helping organisations increase their visibility and marketing efforts with specialised photography and videography.
